Serbian Patriarch Welcomes Olympic Gold Medalists

Belgrade-Serbia: On August 13, 2024, His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije welcomed the Serbian water polo players, who recently secured the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris, to the parish house of the Church of Saint Sava. The meeting was a momentous occasion, filled with warmth and gratitude, as the Patriarch congratulated the athletes on their outstanding achievement and their contribution to national pride.

During the gathering, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized the importance of unity, perseverance, and faith, qualities that the team embodied throughout their journey to Olympic victory. The players, in turn, expressed their deep appreciation for the support and blessings they received from the Serbian Orthodox Church.
