Bishop Ambrose of Svetlogorsk Apointed as Bishop of Borisov and Maryinogorsk

Minsk-Belarus: On December 27, 2023, at a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, a message was heard from the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavsky, about the need to fill the vacant Borisov See (magazine No. 123). Bishop Ambrose was introduced in the diocese on December 30, 2023, by Metropolitan Benjamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.
The vicar of the Gomel diocese, Bishop Ambrose of Svetlogorsk, was appointed Bishop of Borisov and Maryinogorsk.
According to the Statute of the Russian Orthodox Church, “diocesan and vicar bishops of the Exarchate are elected and appointed by the Holy Synod on the proposal of the Synod of the Exarchate” (Article 12 of Chapter XIII).
Earlier, on October 5, 2023, the Synod of the Belarusian Exarchate decided to present His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ and the Holy Synod for election to fill the vacant Borisov See of Bishop Ambrose of Svetlogorsk.
