Catholicos Karekin II Received the Head of the Cultural Center of the Iranian Embassy

Yerevan-Armenia: On 24 October 2023, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians received Mohammad Asadi Movahedi, head of the Culture Center of the Iranian Embassy in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

His Holiness spoke with satisfaction about the close cooperation recorded between the two countries in various fields. The Patriarch of All Armenians specifically spoke about the Mother See’s close ties with the cultural center and jointly implemented events, emphasizing in this regard the promotion of dialogue between cultures and religions, which contributes to the formation of solidarity and interaction between peoples.

The meeting also touched on the painful developments in the Middle East, in particular the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His Holiness expressed deep concern regarding war operations and their disastrous, tragic consequences. His Holiness noted that as a result of the military operations and aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan, the Armenian people continue to bear the sorrow and pain of the war’s atrocities. The Patriarch of Armenia requested from Heaven that the disastrous conflicts endangering human life will stop as soon as possible, and peace will be established in the lives of people.

Mr. Asadi Movahed thanked the Armenian Patriarch for the reception and conveyed to His Holiness the letter of the Honorable Mohammad-Mehdi Imanipour, director of the Organization of Culture and Islamic Relations of Iran and the Center for Policy Development and Dialogue of Religions.

The head of the Cultural Center of the Embassy also presented to His Holiness His Holiness his plans aimed at strengthening the cultural ties of the two countries in his new position. Mr. Movahed referred to the existing concerns with the situation in the region, emphasizing inter-religious dialogue and, in particular, the mission of spiritual leaders in strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between peoples.
