Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary received Metropolitan Abraham Stephanos of the UK, Europe, and Africa

Budapest- Hungary: Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary received Metropolitan Abraham Stephanos of the UK, Europe, and Africa in Budapest on 19 September 2023. The visit of Metropolitan Abraham Stephanos was part of a working visit to Budapest.

Metropolitan Hilarion briefed the guest on the history and current status of the Hungarian-Budapest Diocese.

In return, Metropolitan Abraham conveyed greetings from the Primate of the Malankara Church of India, Catholicos His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews the Third of Malankara, and provided updates on the affairs of the diocese in Great Britain, Europe, and Africa. He also shared his impressions of his recent trip to Russia.

The distinguished guest reminisced about his time as a student at the Malankara Theological Seminary in Kottayam, India, mentioning that in 1995, he attended a lecture by the future Metropolitan Hilarion on St. Isaac the Syrian. “That year, I visited India for the first time while completing my doctoral studies at Oxford University,” noted Metropolitan Hilarion.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Metropolitan Hilarion showed Metropolitan Abraham Stephanos the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Budapest and presented the guest with his book “The Beginning of the Gospel” in English.
