President Volodymyr Zelenskyi Introduced Draft Law on the Cancellation of Celebrating Christmas on 7 January

Kyiv – Ukraine: President Volodymyr Zelenskyi registered at the Verkhovna Rada (the Parliament of Ukraine) draft law No 9431, which provides for the cancellation of a day off on the 7th of January in relation to the cancellation of celebrating the feast of Christmas on that day. The draft law was introduced on July 28, 2023.
The dates of celebrating the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Ukraine Defender Day are also to be moved under the draft law. The Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church informs about it.
It is pointed out that draft law No 9431 stipulates amending Article 73 of the Labour Code of Ukraine. In accordance with the amendment, 7 January is excluded from the list of holidays and days off.
The draft law also provides for changing the dates of celebrating the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Ukraine Defender Day, i.e. amending article 73 of the Labour Code of Ukraine, laying down that on 25 December, Christmas is celebrated; on 15 July – the Day of Ukrainian Statehood; on 1 October – the Ukraine Defender Day.
