Kyiv – Ukraine: Ukranina President Volodymyr Zelenskyi Refused to meet the delegation of the Holy synod of Church led by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy on March 20, 2022. Primates and metropolitans waited around 2hrs which later led to a response from the press secretary about the refusal.
Approximately at 1:30 p.m. a representative of the Office of the President came out to the members of the Holy Synod and offered to convey the Address to the President. His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy pointed out that the hierarchs hoped to do it during a personal meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
At 2:30 p.m. the information appeared in the media that the Office of the President of Ukraine had refused to organise a meeting with the leadership of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, noting that the President of Ukraine had not planned a meeting with UOC representatives this day.
“Employees of specialised departments of the Office of the President met with the delegation in order to receive the address, register it and forward it for subsequent consideration. To this moment, the representatives of the UOC MP (Moscow Patriarchate – ed.) have refused to give such an address”, said Serhiy Nykyforov, according to the news source.
We remind that the Holy Synod had to come directly to the Office of the President for the purpose of conveying information about the position of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church due to fact that previous addresses to representatives of the state authority had been ignored, the Church had received no answer to them.
