Synodal Election for Archbishop of Cyprus will be Held on 24 December

Nicosia – Cyprus: At the session of the Holy Synod of Cyprus that was held on December 22, 2022, it was announced that the synodal elections from the Triprosopon for the position of Cyprus Archbishop will be held on December 24, 2022.
Members of Triprosopon that was elected by the people of Cyprus (December 18, 2022) consist of:
- His Eminence Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol
- His Eminence Metropolitan Georgios of Paphos
- His Eminence Metropolitan Isaias of Tamasos & Orini
Metropolitan of Paphos Georgios, custodian of the Archbishop’s throne also informed that all objections that were submitted against the election were rejected by the synod.
Result of the Election on December 18, 2022:
Total Registered votes: 548,793
Total Votes Polled: 165,688
Poll percentage: 30.19%
Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol : 58,573 (35.68%)
Metropolitan Georgios of Paphos : 30,188 (18.39%)
Metropolitan Isaias of Tamasos & Orini : 29,708 (18.10%)
The elections to the throne of the archbishop of Cyprus started as the throne became vacant due to the demise of His Beatitude Chrysostomos II.
