Thai Monarch Hosts Orthodox Clergy from Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia in Symbolic Audience

Moscow- Russia: In a significant cultural and religious exchange, King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) of Thailand, alongside Queen Suthida, graciously granted an audience to prominent members of the Orthodox Christian community at the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall in Bangkok on August 12,2024.
Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), secretary of the Diocese of Thailand, and Archpriest Daniel Vanna, were received by His Majesty the King. During the meeting, Archpriest Daniel delivered a report, followed by a presentation from Archimandrite Oleg. The clerics conveyed warm regards and well-wishes to King Vajiralongkorn from the Orthodox community in Thailand, in honor of his 72nd birthday.
The audience was marked by a special moment when Archimandrite Oleg, with the blessing of Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and South-East Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of South-East Asia, presented King Vajiralongkorn with a portrait painted by the renowned artist A.I. Osipov.
This event underscores the continued cultural dialogue and mutual respect between the Orthodox Christian community and the Thai monarchy, further strengthening the ties between different faiths in the region.
