Russian Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia Visited Laos

Moscow- Russia: On October 25-27, during an archpastoral visit to the Thai diocese, the Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia, Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore and Southeast Asia, temporary administrator of the Thai diocese, visited the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
On October 25, Metropolitan Sergius held a meeting with the Director of the Department of Religious Affairs of the People’s Front of the Lao PDR, Khanonglithe Sisombun. During the conversation, the meeting participants discussed the prospects for further interaction, as well as a wide range of issues relating to the activities of the Orthodox parish in Vientiane, the Exarchate’s telegram channel reports .
The next day there was a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Laos V.A. Kalinin, within the framework of which the care of compatriots temporarily or permanently living in Laos was discussed.
On October 27, at the parish in the name of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore and Southeast Asia celebrated the Divine Liturgy. The service was held on the eve of Dimitrievskaya parental Saturday, and those gathered had the opportunity to remember their deceased relatives and friends. Liturgy, at which the Russian Ambassador to Laos V.A. prayed. Kalinin, Director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Laos A.V. Radkov, diplomatic mission staff and Orthodox compatriots, took place on the premises of the RCSC in Vientiane.
On his trip to Laos, the Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia was accompanied by the vicar of the Singapore diocese, Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, and the secretary of the Thai diocese, Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin).
