Russian and Antiochian Orthodox Leaders Discuss Bilateral Relations

Moscow- Russia: On December 6,2024, a meeting took place at the Department for External Church Relations (DECR) of the Moscow Patriarchate between the Chairman of the DECR, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, and Metropolitan Basil of Akkar (Antiochian Patriarchate).
During the conversation with the guest, Metropolitan Anthony asked him to convey his well-wishes to His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, and expressed support for the Antiochian Orthodox Church during this challenging time.
The meeting, held in a warm and brotherly atmosphere, touched upon topics related to the development of bilateral relations between the Antiochian and Russian Orthodox Churches, discussed the current situation in the Orthodox world, and addressed other matters of mutual interest.
Among the participants in the meeting were also the Deputy Chairman of the DECR, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, and the Representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ to the Patriarchal See of Antioch, Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev).
