President of Kenya Received Theodoros II of Alexandria

Nairobi– Kenya: The President of Kenya William Ruto received Theodoros II, Pope, and Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa at Presidental Palace on February 16, 2023. Patriarch was accompanied by His Grace Neophytos Bishop of Eldoret and His Grace Panaretos Bishop of Mount Kenya, His Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt. Mr. Wael Nasr Eldin Attiya, the Reverend Protopresbyter Athenodoros Papaevripiadis and other African clergies. The reception of the Alexandrian Primate took place on the occasion of the pastoral tour he is carrying out these days in Kenya.
According to the Patriarchate:
His Excellency the President welcomed His Beatitude, and thanked him for the diverse work of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa, both in Kenya and in the rest of Africa. He spoke with warm words about the Bishops ministering in the country, for the harmonious and productive cooperation, and also made special mention of the ailing Elder Metropolitan Makarios of Nairobi.
In his reply, His Beatitude spoke to His Excellency the President about the two-thousand-year history of the Alexandrian Church on the African Continent and the pastoral, missionary, educational and charitable work of the Patriarchate with the aim of building schools, hospitals, churches and other institutions. He also informed Mr. President about his visit to Turkana, the prospects and efforts of a coordinated plan of action for the relief of the residents of the area and as he particularly emphasized everything is being done for the good and progress of the blessed Kenyan People.
Finally, after thanking His Excellency the President again for the meeting, the Patriarch wished peace and prosperity to the people of Kenya.
