Cairo-Egypt: His Holiness Pope Tawadros II celebrated “Christ’s Entry into the Land of Egypt” at the Virgin Mary’s Church, Maadi on June 01, 2023. Maadi was one of the stops visited by the Holy Family during their tour in the land of Egypt.
A number of bishops, priests, and deacons of the church and the faithful participated in the liturgy that was celebrated by His Holiness Pope. At the end of the liturgy that was held in the open-air church, His Holiness the Pope blessed the waters of the Nile by sprinkling the blessing water in it.
His Holiness indicated in the sermon of the liturgy that this feast is an Egyptian and ecclesiastical feast that we are unique to in the land of Egypt. And added that, it is one of the Lord’s feasts and a constant of history as we celebrate it on the 1st of June. Christ gave a special privilege to Egypt to come to it, and to live in it with our mother, the Virgin Mary, and St. Joseph the Carpenter, which made this holiday significant, its history, and its impact on our Egyptian life.
