
Persecution of Orthodox Christians continues in Oromia, Ethiopia

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia: Two Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Christians are the latest victims of targeted attacks against Christians in the East Arsi Zone of the Oromia Regional State. Mr. Kebede Mamo Eshetu, a 65-year-old father of six, and Mrs. Abere Seyum, a mother of two, were gunned down in their homes in the Robe District of East Arsi on the evening of September 15, 2025, at around 11:00 p.m. Esubalew Seyum, the 15-year-old son of Mrs. Abere, is receiving treatment for gunshot wounds.
East Arsi, an area with a Muslim majority, has experienced increasing violence against Orthodox Christians in recent years. The locality known as “01 Kebele,” located 60 kilometers from Robe Town, is in particularly dire circumstances, according to witnesses.
