Patriarchs of Antioch and Cyprus Reaffirm Strong Ties

Damascus – Syria: Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East has emphasized the deep-rooted relationship between the Antiochian and Cypriot Orthodox Churches. The Patriarch conveyed this message during a phone call to His Beatitude Archbishop George of Cyprus.
Patriarch John X highlighted the historical and geographical ties that bind the two Churches and the enduring brotherhood of faith that has existed for two millennia. He emphasized the need to strengthen these bonds and activate bridges of communication within the Orthodox Christian world, especially in light of contemporary conflicts.
The Patriarch also discussed the crucial role of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) in addressing the challenges facing the region. He emphasized the MECC’s importance in promoting dialogue, cooperation, and understanding among Christian churches in the Middle East.
