Patriarchs of Antioch and Alexandria Strengthen Church Relations

Damascus – Syria: Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East has emphasized the importance of the Christian presence in the Middle East, the birthplace of Christianity. The Patriarch conveyed this message during a phone call with Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa.
The two prelates discussed the fraternal relations between the Antiochian and Alexandrian Orthodox Churches and reviewed ways to enhance communication among churches worldwide. They expressed concern about the challenges facing the Church in today’s world and emphasized the need to prioritize peace and dialogue over conflict and violence.
Patriarch John X highlighted the significance of the Middle East as the cradle of Christianity and the need for Christians to bear witness to Christ in this region. He emphasized the importance of the Church’s role in promoting peace, understanding, and reconciliation.
The two Patriarchs also discussed the general situation in the region and the world, expressing their concern about the devastating effects of wars and conflicts. They called for a renewed commitment to peace and dialogue among nations.
