Patriarch’s Enthronement Anniversary Marked by Charitable Giving, Not Flowers

Moscow- Russia: Instead of the traditional floral tributes for the anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill’s enthronement, Moscow parishes have once again demonstrated their generosity by donating vital medical equipment to the St. Alexis Central Clinical Hospital. This has become a cherished tradition since 2016, reflecting the Patriarch’s blessing to redirect flower funds towards charitable causes.

This year, the collected funds have been used to purchase a much-needed dental CT scanner for the hospital. The advanced scanner will significantly enhance the quality of diagnostics and treatment for patients with dental issues and broaden the scope of dental services offered. This acquisition marks another step forward in improving the hospital’s dental services.

“The new dental tomograph will help doctors improve the accuracy of diagnostics for developing an effective treatment plan,” a hospital representative stated. The St. Alexis Hospital primarily serves clergy and monks of the Russian Orthodox Church.

This benevolent initiative replaces the previous custom of presenting the Patriarch with flowers on significant occasions. In past years, funds gathered through this initiative have supported the purchase of other medical equipment for St. Alexy Hospital and, in 2017, provided aid to residents of Syria. The ongoing tradition underscores the commitment of Moscow parishes to both spiritual celebration and practical acts of charity.
