Patriarch of Antioch Calls for International Action to Stop Persecution of Ukrainian Church Orthodox

Balamand- Lebanon: His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East has issued a statement in support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is facing a ban and the seizure of its property. The Patriarch condemned the Ukrainian Parliament’s adoption of Bill No. 8371, which aims to eliminate the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
In his statement, Patriarch John X emphasized the importance of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as the only legitimate Orthodox Church in Ukraine. He expressed his solidarity with the Church’s faithful people, who are enduring persecution and discrimination.
The Patriarch called upon all believers to pray for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its leadership, urging them to remain steadfast in their faith. He also appealed to the international community to condemn the religious persecution taking place in Ukraine and to advocate for the protection of religious freedom.
Patriarch John X reiterated the Patriarchate of Antioch’s commitment to defending the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and called for a General Council of Orthodox Churches to address the Ukrainian ecclesiastical issue.
