Patriarch Neophyte Received Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova

Sofia-Bulgaria: His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte received the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova on 25 October 2023. The meeting took place at the Holy Metropolis of Sofia. The meting was also attended by His Eminence Bishop Polycarp of Belogradchik, vicar of the Metropolitan of Sofia, Archim. Euthymius, spiritual supervisor of the Holy Metropolis of Sofia, Mr. Teodor Atanasov, head of the Cabinet of the Bulgarian Patriarch and Mr. Angel Mladenov, secretary of the Holy Metropolis of Sofia.
Mayor Fandakova thanked His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophytes for the blessings and prayers for the development of Sofia, as well as for the support over the years that the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has provided to the Metropolitan Municipality in initiatives supported or implemented together with the Sofia Holy Metropolis. “During the last 10 years in Sofia, we have witnessed active construction and restoration of temples and spiritual centers, which is important for preserving the faith and spirit of our city,” said Mrs. Fandakova.
During the meeting, Bishop Polycarp emphasized the good and warm relations between the municipal government and the metropolis. In his words, Mayor Fandakova contributed to the Church and the Municipality working in unity, which is important for the improvement of the city. “Four churches are currently being built in the capital, for which the Metropolitan Municipality has provided help and assistance,” added Bishop Polycarp.
His Holiness Patriarch Neophyte wished many more successes to Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova in her affairs, as well as health and strength. Mr. Yordanka Fandakova is mayor of Sofia since 2009.
