Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas Received Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II

Holy Land- Jerusalem: President of the State of Palestine His Excellency Mr. Mahmoud Abbas received His Holiness Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II the Primate of the Syrian Orthodox Church at the Presidential Palace in Ramallah on 08th May 2023. The meeting was in a cordial atmosphere.

President during the meeting mentioned the history of churches in Palestine and recent developments in the Palestine territories. His Excellency also mentioned the keenness of the Palestine government to promote authentic churches in the Holy Land and support the churches. Patriarch in his turn enunciated his concern regarding the suffering faced by the people of Syria and Palestine His Holiness mentioned that he hope and pray for the restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East countries and stressed the necessity to preserve human dignity and basic fundamental rights of the people in those region. He also thanked His Excellency for his continuing support for the Christians in Holy Land.

His Holiness was accompanied by Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Jerusalem, Jordan, and the Holy Land, Mor Justinos Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar in Zahleh and Beqaa, Mor Clemis Daniel Kourieh, Archbishop of Beirut, Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul, Kirkuk, Kurdistan and Environs, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, Mor Maurice Amsih, Archbishop of Jazeera and Euphrates, Mor Boutros Kassis, Archbishop of Aleppo and Environs, Mor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for Monks Affairs and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Assistant.
