Englewood, NJ: His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) made a significant visit to His Eminence Metropolitan Saba of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America on September 12, 2024.

Accompanied by Archpriest Alexander Rentel, Chancellor of the OCA, and Protodeacon Peter Ilchuk, Metropolitan Tikhon met with Metropolitan Saba at the Archdiocese’s chancery in Englewood, NJ. The meeting marked their first official encounter since Metropolitan Saba’s enthronement earlier this year.

Also present were Fr. Joseph Samaan, Protosyngellos of the Antiochian Archdiocese, and Fr. Thomas Zain, Vicar General. The group discussed various matters affecting the Orthodox Church in North America, including the upcoming Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops, the ongoing work of the Assembly, and seminary education.

Metropolitan Tikhon expressed gratitude for the ongoing collaboration between the OCA and the Antiochian Archdiocese, highlighting the contributions of clergy such as Fr. Jeremy Davis at St. Vladimir’s Seminary. He also discussed plans for the canonization of Matushka Olga.

The meeting concluded with discussions about potential dates for a joint concelebration of the Divine Liturgy.

Following the meeting, Metropolitan Tikhon and his delegation joined Metropolitan Saba for dinner, where they continued their discussions and strengthened their relationship.

As a token of appreciation, Metropolitan Tikhon presented copies of the new edition of the Holy Psalter, a joint publication by STM Press and SVS Press, to Metropolitan Saba and the Antiochian Archdiocese.
