New Era Begins for Finnish Orthodox Church as Archbishop Elias Installed

Helsinki – Finland: On December 15, 2024, a historic event unfolded at the Uspenski Cathedral as Archbishop Elias was installed as the new Archbishop of Helsinki and All Finland. Thousands of faithful gathered to witness the solemn ceremony, which was attended by bishops from various countries and numerous dignitaries.
The installation service, conducted by Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria, marked the beginning of a new era for the Finnish Orthodox Church. As the archbishop received the mitre, a symbol of his authority, the congregation responded with a resounding “Axios!” (Worthy!), expressing their support and prayers for the newly installed leader.
