New York- USA: His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, visited His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Synodal Residence of Metropolitan Nicholas. Before their meeting, Metropolitan Tikhon venerated the revered Kursk Root icon of the Mother of God at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign, a significant act of devotion and unity.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of brotherhood and mutual respect. The discussion between the hierarchs focused on matters of common interest to both Churches. This encounter is seen as a crucial step in fostering greater unity among Orthodox Christians in America and worldwide. They also exchanged souvenirs at the end of their meeting.

The meeting was attended by Archpriest Alexander Rental, the manager of affairs for the Orthodox Church in America. Representing the Russian Church Abroad, Archpriest Seraphim Gang, the ruler of the Office of the Synod of Bishops and the secretary of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, also participated.
