
Key Dates and Events of the 2025 Centennial Year in the Romanian Patriarchate

Bucharest-Romania: The year 2025 has been declared the Solemn Year of the Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate and the Commemorative Year of 20th-century Romanian Orthodox Spiritual Fathers and Confessors.
A series of significant events are planned throughout the year, culminating in the consecration of the long-awaited National Cathedral.
Key Dates:
- February 4, 2025: Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate. A special ceremony will be held, presided over by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, to commemorate this milestone. This day will also witness the general proclamation of the canonization of 16 Romanian Saints.
- April 17, 2025: Preparation and consecration of the Holy Chrism, an essential element of Orthodox Christian liturgy.
- April 25, 2025: 140th Anniversary of the Autocephaly of the Romanian Orthodox Church, coinciding with the Feast of the Life-Giving Spring.
- May 13-17, 2025: International Theology Symposium in Bucharest, dedicated to the Centennial Year and the 1,700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea.
- October 26, 2025: Consecration of the National Cathedral. This historic event will be conducted by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople and His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, in the presence of the members of the Holy Synod.
These key events will be officially highlighted throughout the year.
