Hieromonk Stephan of DECR – Moscow Patriarchate Visited the Moscow Ethiopian Community

Moscow-Russia: Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations, Moscow Patriarchate, visited the representatives of the Ethiopian community on 15th January 2023 as per the invitation from the community at Moscow.

The meeting was in a cordial atmosphere in which the participants discussed about the bilateral relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. The religious life of Ethiopian Christians living in the capital of Russia was also analyzed in the meeting.

Members of the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in the Russian Federation also attended the meeting. Hieromonk Stefan conveyed the blessings of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations to the community.

The Ethiopian community in Russia is growing in recent years as many of them study at Russian higher educational establishments or work in various institutions.
