Hierarch of the Malankara Orthodox Church Condemns Seizure of Ukrainian Cathedral and Attack on Metropolitan Theodosy

Moscow- Russia: H.E Metropolitan Abraham Stephanos of the UK, Europe, and Africa Dioceses (Malankara Orthodox Church) has strongly condemned the recent raid and seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cherkassy.
In a letter to Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Stephanos expressed his “deepest concern” over the incident. He described the attack on Metropolitan Theodosy of Cherkassy and Kanev, clergy, and believers as a “shocking and saddening act” that violated the dignity of the Church and the faithful.
Recalling the ongoing persecution of Orthodox believers in Ukraine, the Hierarch of the Church of India assured his solidarity with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He offered prayers and support for Metropolitan Theodosius, the clergy, and the faithful facing such trials.
Metropolitan Stephanos emphasized the importance of Christian unity and solidarity in the face of adversity, quoting from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. He pledged to continue offering prayers for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, seeking God’s mercy and intercession for peace and protection.
