Georgia’s New President Kavlashvili Meets Patriarch Ilia II

Tbilisi -Georgia: The newly elected President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavlashvili, accompanied by his family, met with the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness Ilia II, on the final day of 2024.
The meeting, reported by Rustavi2, took place in Tbilisi and underscored the close ties between Georgia’s leadership and its spiritual institutions. During the visit, Patriarch Ilia II blessed President Kavlashvili and his family, presenting him with an icon of the Mandylion, also known as the Image of Christ “Not Made by Hands.”
In a gesture of goodwill, the Patriarch wished the President success in his new role, emphasizing the importance of unity and faith in guiding the nation forward.
The meeting reflects the deep-rooted connection between the Georgian Orthodox Church and the country’s political leadership, symbolizing a shared commitment to the well-being and prosperity of Georgia.
