Ethiopian Orthodox Delegation Visits St. Alexy Hospital in Moscow

Moscow- Russia: A delegation from the Holy Trinity Theological University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, recently visited St. Alexy Hospital in Moscow. The visit, which took place on November 25,2024, was part of a broader effort to strengthen academic cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
The delegation, led by Archimandrite Hailegabriel Girma, Vice-Rector of the University, and Archimandrite Gebrehanna Gebretsadik, Dean of the University’s Distance Education Faculty, expressed keen interest in the hospital’s operations, particularly its palliative care department.
“We were deeply moved by our interaction with patients in the palliative care unit,” said Archimandrite Hailegabriel Girma. “There are striking parallels between the histories of our nations and our Churches.”
Alexey Zarov, Chief Physician and Director of St. Alexy Hospital, emphasized the potential for collaboration between the two institutions. “We have agreed to work together and have extended an invitation to visit a church hospital in Ethiopia,” he stated.
St. Alexy Hospital, a prominent medical institution of the Russian Orthodox Church, provides comprehensive healthcare services to patients from across Russia. The hospital’s commitment to compassionate care and its dedication to training healthcare professionals have made it a leading institution in the country.
