Election of New Archbishop of Albania Scheduled for March 16, 2025

Tirana – Albania: The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania has announced that the election of the new Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania will take place on Sunday, March 16, 2025, which marks the Second Sunday of Lent.
The upcoming election will select a successor to the late Archbishop Anastasios, who led the Church with distinction and dedication. The process will be held at the Synodal Center immediately following the Divine Liturgy, in accordance with the Statute of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania.
The election holds significant importance for the future spiritual leadership of the Orthodox community in Albania. Church leaders and faithful across the country are preparing for this historic event, which will determine the next spiritual head of the Albanian Orthodox Church.
Archbishop Anastasios, who passed away recently, is remembered for his tireless efforts in reviving the Orthodox faith in Albania following decades of religious repression under communist rule. His legacy includes the restoration of churches, the establishment of charitable programs, and fostering interfaith dialogue.
As the Church prepares for the election, the faithful are called to prayer and reflection, seeking divine guidance for the selection of their new archbishop.
