Ecumenical Patriarch Urges End to Bloodshed: “War is Not the Solution!”

Constantinople-Turkey: On 22 October 2023, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, officiated vesper at the Church of Agios Georgios Neochorio Bosphorus, Metochio of the Holy Sepulcher.
In his address, the Patriarch emphasized the importance of honest dialogue as the only means to achieve peace and justice in the region amidst the ongoing tragic events in the Holy Land. He stated, “Enough is enough, enough blood has been spilled! War is not a solution! It is the imprint of the fall of man, who in his arrogance and greed cannot recognize the sanctity of the face of his fellow man.” His Holiness added that every Christian is responsible for what happens around them, and that peace depends on each individual.
Prior to his speech, the Patriarch was addressed by Archbishop Anthidonos Nektarios, the Commissioner of the Holy Sepulcher in Polis, who discussed the prevailing conditions of chaos, war, and fratricide. He also conveyed his wishes for the well-being of Patriarch Theophilos and the Holy Sepulcher Brotherhood, urging prayers for peace and the well-being of the universe and the Holy Lands.
