DECR Secretary for Inter-Christian Relations Meets with Ethiopian Ambassador to Russia

Moscow- Russia: Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), Secretary for Inter-Christian Relations of the Department for External Church Relations (DECR) of the Moscow Patriarchate, met with Ambassador Genet Teshome Jirru of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The meeting took place on August 18, 2025, at the Ethiopian Embassy in Moscow.

The visit, made with the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the DECR, focused on a wide range of topics of mutual interest. A key part of the discussion was the continued development of relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ethiopian Church.

Also in attendance were Chuol Buoni Lam, the Embassy’s Secretary for Public Affairs, and Fisiha Blen Mesfin, the Secretary for Trade and Tourism.
