Antelias – Lebanon: Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church Aram I, in response to the appeal of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ dated August 23, 2024, regarding the ongoing persecutions by the Ukrainian authorities against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, sent a letter of support to the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church:

“We would like to thank you for your letter dated August 23, 2024, and for the information about the decision made by the Ukrainian parliament to ban the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. We were indeed deeply shocked to learn about the persecutions and arrests of clergy and believers carried out by the state authorities. This is illegal and morally unacceptable, and it contradicts international law.”

“In this critical time, when the Russian Orthodox Church in Russia and Ukraine is facing very serious crises and challenges, we want to assure Your Holiness that we are prayerfully and mentally with you, your Church, and your people,” the letter states.
