Yerevan-Armenia: H.H. Karekin the Second Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians received the newly Appointed Ambassador of India to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha at Holy Etchmiadzin on May 04th, 2023. 

Armenian Patriarch congratulated the ambassador on the new appointment and wished her a fruitful and effective mission. His Holiness emphasized that the close cooperation of the two countries is due to the age-old friendship between the Armenian and Indian peoples and referred to the activities of the Armenian church, particularly the Calcutta Armenian Philanthropic Seminary. Patriarch also appreciated Indian government authorities for the attention shown to educational institutions.

The newly appointed ambassador in her turn mentioned the historical presence of Armenians in India and the current cooperation among the two countries. Ms.Nilakshi Saha Sinha mentioned her visit to the Calcutta Armenian Philanthropic Seminary to the patriarch and noted that it is a unique bridge in strengthening the ties between the two countries. During the conversation, references were made regarding the life of the Armenian community in India and the Armenian churches in India. They also talked about the serious security challenges faced by Armenia and Artsakh and the challenges of preserving the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan.
