Catholicos Karekin II Expressed his Aspiration on Korea-Armenia Friendship Group

Yerevan-Armenia: H.H. Karekin the Second Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his hope on the Korea-Armenia friendship group on their visit to the Holy Etchmiadzin on February 14, 2023. H.H. Karekin received the delegation led by Kihun Son, head of the Korea-Armenia friendship group. 

According to Holy Etchmiadzin:

Expressing his satisfaction with the cooperative relations established between the two countries, Catholicos Karekin expressed hope that the delegation’s visit to Armenia will become a new stimulus for the further deepening of Armenian-Korean relations.

The Armenian Catholicos recalled back in 2013. His visit to South Korea on the occasion of the General Assembly of the World Council of Churches.

The situation in the region and post-war challenges were discussed at the meeting. The Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his concern regarding the humanitarian disaster caused by the blocking of the Lachin Corridor, as well as the return of captives and the undisturbed preservation of the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan, emphasizing the consistent efforts of the international community to prevent the expansionist policy adopted by Azerbaijan.

In his turn, Kihun Son noted the important contribution of efforts aimed at closer Armenian-Korean cooperation. The head of the delegation also emphasized the need to establish peace in the region.
