Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem Received Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II

Holy Land- Jerusalem: His Beatitude Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem welcomed His Holiness Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II of Antioch, the Primate of the Syrian Orthodox Church on 08th May 2023 at the Armenian Orthodox Patriarchate Headquarters in Jerusalem. During the official reception, His Holiness the Patriarch entered the cathedral where he visited the shrine of St. James the Apostle and prayed for the saints, then walked around the cathedral.
His Beatitude Archbishop Nourhan Manougian mentioned the historical relationship between the two churches and the contributions made by Syrian priests in establishing strong faith in Armenia.
The Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II in his turn the Patriarch thanked the church for the reception, referring to the special relationship that has united the Syrian and Armenian peoples since the beginning of Christianity. He added that work should continue to strengthen this relationship, especially academically and in theological spheres. He also stressed the need for cooperation in order to establish the members of the church in their bright roots. They also exchanged gifts at the end of the reception.
His Holiness was accompanied by Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Jerusalem, Jordan, and the Holy Land, Mor Justinos Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar in Zahleh and Beqaa, Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul, Kirkuk, Kurdistan and Environs, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, Mor Maurice Amsih, Archbishop of Jazeera and Euphrates, lMor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for Monks Affairs and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Assistant.
