Armenian Bishop and Ambassador of Egypt Requested Support and Strong Action from Pope Tawadros in Artsakh Crisis

Cairo – Egypt: Pope Tawadros II received Bishop Ashod Mnatsakanyan, Prelate of Armenian Diocese in Egypt, and Armenian Ambassador to Egypt Harachia Poladian at the Papal Residence in Cairo on 31 August 2023.

The meeting touched on Azerbaijan’s illegal and inhuman blockade of the Artsakh region.

His Holiness Pope appealed to the relevant authorities in the State of Azerbaijan to open the Lachin corridor in the southern Caucasus for the safety of people and to save them from the specter of hunger, as this vital corridor has been closed since December 2022. Pope expressed his hope that peace prevails between the two neighboring countries.
