Archimandrite Vianor (Ivanov) Consecrated as the Bishop of the Ural and Atyrau (Kazakhstan)

Moscow-Russia: Archimandrite Vianor (Ivanov) was consecrated as the Bishop of the Ural and Atyrau (Kazakhstan) by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow on September 21, 2023. Archimandrite Vianor was elected by the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on August 24, 2023.

Bishop Vianor (Ivanov) of the Ural and Atyrau was born on November 11, 1972, in Novosibirsk, and later, his family moved to Kazakhstan.

The consecration and liturgy were co-celebrated by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the head of the Metropolitan District in the Republic of Kazakhstan; Metropolitan Dionysius of the Resurrection, manager of the affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate and the first vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia for the city of Moscow; Archbishop of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk Amfilohiy; Bishop Tikhon of Vidnovsky; Bishop of Serpukhov Roman; and Bishop of Zaraisk Konstantin.

The consecration was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation A.Yu. Kuznetsova; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation D.A. Abaev; Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation A.S. Sinyagovsky; Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation A.I. Nurbekov; Chairman of the Synodal Department for Relations of the Church with Society and the Media V.R. Legoida; President of the Russian Bandy Federation B.I. Skrynnik, and the delegation of the Russian Bandy Federation.

During the Liturgy, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill ordained Deacon Theodore Shulga, a supernumerary cleric of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” on Bolshaya Ordynka in Moscow and an employee of the Secretariat for Inter-Orthodox Relations of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, to the rank of presbyter.
