Archimandrite Bogoslov (Dimitrov) Consecrated as the Vicar Bishop of Stara Zagora

Sofia – Bulgaria: On December 22,2024, in the cathedral church “St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra” in Stara Zagora, the episcopal ordination of Archimandrite Bogoslov (Dimitrov), a cleric and former protosingel of the Stara Zagora diocese, took place.
At its meeting on December 10th, the Holy Synod, upon the proposal of Metropolitan Cyprian of Stara Zagora, decided to elevate Archimandrite Bogoslov to the episcopal rank with the title of Marcianopolis. This marks the first episcopal ordination in Stara Zagora and brings together the faithful to rejoice for the new bishop of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
The ordination ceremony was attended by numerous hierarchs, including Metropolitans Nikolay of Plovdiv, Yakov of Dorostol, and Arseny of Sliven, as well as bishops from across the country. During the Divine Liturgy, Archimandrite Bogoslov was consecrated, and the temple was filled with the exclamation “Axios” for the new bishop.
His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil sent a congratulatory message, expressing his heartfelt wishes for peace, joy, and fruitful ministry for the newly ordained bishop.
The ordination was attended by representatives of the state and executive authorities, including regional governors, mayors, and officials from various sectors.
The Holy Synod, chaired by His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil, approved the ordination of Archimandrite Bogoslov (Dimitrov) as Bishop of Marcianopolis at its meeting on December 10,2024.
Born in Rila, Kyustendil region, Bishop Bogoslov graduated from the Sofia Theological Seminary and the Theological Faculty at Sofia University. He holds a master’s degree in Business Management and a professional qualification as a teacher.
