Archimandrite Alexy (Smirnov) Consecrated as the Bishop of Baku and Azerbaijan

Moscow- Russia: Archimandrite Alexy (Smirnov) was consecrated as the Bishop of Baku and Azerbaijan at the Church of the Ascension of the Lord (“Big Ascension”) in Storozhi, at the Nikitsky Gate in Moscow on June 13,2024. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ led the consecration with members of Holy Synod.

Archimandrite Alexy (Smirnov) was elected by the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on May 30,2024.

Bishop Alexy (Smirnov) of Baku and Azerbaijan was born on April 10, 1975 in Stavropol.
