Asmara – Eritrea: His Holiness Abune Basilyos was officially enthroned as the 6th Patriarch of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church on Sunday, January 26th, 2025, at Enda Mariam Cathedral in Asmara.

The ceremony was a significant event, attended by dignitaries from across the globe, including representatives from sister Orthodox Churches of Egypt, Russia, Greece, Armenia, Syria, and India.

President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea and government officials, along with members of the diplomatic corps, graced the occasion with their presence.

The enthronement ceremony was a momentous occasion for the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, marking the beginning of a new chapter under the leadership of His Holiness Abune Basilyos.
