Patriarch of Jerusalem Welcomes New Ethiopian Archbishop, Offers to Mediate Monastery Dispute

Jerusalem-Holy Land: On September 15, 2025, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, formally welcomed the newly appointed Ethiopian Archbishop, Abune Natnael, to the Patriarchate.
In a significant diplomatic gesture, Patriarch Theophilos also expressed his keen interest in cooperating with the Ethiopian Church to help resolve the long-standing dispute between the Ethiopian and Coptic Orthodox Churches over the Der Sultan Abraham monastery. As the spiritual leader of the Holy Land, His Beatitude’s offer highlights his desire to foster peace and cooperation among the Christian communities in Jerusalem.
