Bucharest-Romania: His Holiness Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church met with Mr. Marcel Ciolacu, Prime Minister of Romania, on Tuesday 29th April 2025 at Victoria Palace, the official seat of the Romanian government in Bucharest.
Prime Minister Ciolacu warmly welcomed His Holiness and the accompanying delegation, expressing appreciation for the historic ties between Egypt and Romania and acknowledging the Coptic Orthodox Church’s vital role in promoting peace, dialogue, and openness.
His Holiness conveyed his gratitude for the reception and affirmed the enduring relationship between the Egyptian and Romanian peoples. He also thanked the Romanian government for its support of the Egyptian community and the pastoral mission of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the country.
The conversation touched on several topics of mutual interest, including peaceful coexistence, cultural exchange, and the strengthening of cooperation between religious and spiritual institutions in both nations.
This meeting forms part of His Holiness’s pastoral visit to the Diocese of Central Europe, which began with his arrival in Poland and continues in Romania with a series of official and ecclesial engagements.
