Patriarch Kirill and Israeli Ambassador Discuss Holy Land Security, Pilgrimage

Patriarch Kirill highlighted the work of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Israel, which supports pilgrims and fosters relations with religious communities. “This service undoubtedly brings its benefits and contributes, among other things, to the development of good relations between our countries,” he said.

The Patriarch expressed concern about peace and security in the Holy Land, emphasizing the impact on human lives and the safety of pilgrims. He also noted the importance of peace of mind for the Russian Church representatives permanently residing in Israel, particularly in Jerusalem.

He emphasized the deep connection Russians have with the Holy Land, recalling the heroic efforts of their ancestors who, despite numerous hardships and dangers, journeyed to venerate the shrines. “At present, there are no restrictions: our pilgrims come freely, they feel completely calm. There are no problems associated with their stay there, which we greatly appreciate,” Patriarch Kirill stated. He thanked Ambassador Galperin for the efforts made to ensure the safety of pilgrims and the functioning of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission.

Ambassador Galperin expressed her honor at meeting with the Patriarch and emphasized the pleasure Israel takes in welcoming pilgrims from Russia. She stressed the importance of cooperation, friendship, and dialogue between the two peoples and their respective religious communities, highlighting their shared values.
