Metropolitan Tikhon Continues Annual Tradition with Mexico Visit

Mexico city – Mexico: His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America traveled to Mexico City on January 10, 2025, for a primatial visit to the Diocese of Mexico. This annual visit, following the Feast of the Theophany, has become a tradition for the Metropolitan.
Upon arrival, Metropolitan Tikhon was welcomed by His Eminence Archbishop Alejo, along with numerous clergy and faithful of the Diocese. Also in attendance was His Eminence Archbishop Benjamin, a long-time supporter of the Diocese.
The visit included a Diocesan Assembly at the Monasterio Orthodoxo San Antonio El Grande, where Metropolitan Tikhon addressed the gathering on the conciliar life of the Church.
On Sunday, Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the Divine Liturgy at Holy Ascension Cathedral, concelebrating with His Eminence Iakovos, Metropolitan of Mexico (Ecumenical Patriarchate), His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatius (Patriarchate of Antioch), Archbishop Alejo, Archbishop Benjamin, His Grace Isichios, Bishop of Markiani (Ecumenical Patriarchate), and other clergy. The service was followed by the Great Blessing of Water.
Metropolitan Tikhon expressed his gratitude to Archbishop Alejo for his work and the continued growth of the Diocese. The concelebrating bishops also expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to participate in this joyous occasion and highlighted the strong brotherly relationships between the three Orthodox dioceses in Mexico.
His Beatitude returned to Washington, DC, on January 13, 2025.
