Patriarch John X Receives Envoy of New Syrian Administration

Damascus – Syria: Patriarch John X, head of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch, received a delegation from the new Syrian administration at the Patriarchate in Damascus today. The delegation, led by Dr. Abu Omar, conveyed greetings from Commander Ahmad Al-Sharaa to the Patriarch.
The meeting focused on several key issues, including the status of Christians within Syrian society. The administration emphasized that Christians are considered integral citizens of Syria, not a minority group. The administration reiterated its commitment to upholding the freedom, rights, and duties of all Christians.
Furthermore, the discussion highlighted the important role of Christians in shaping the future of Syria. The administration stressed the need for collaboration and partnership with all segments of Syrian society, including Christians, in all aspects of national development. This includes active participation in the drafting of a new democratic constitution that guarantees freedom, justice, and equality for all citizens.
