Choir of Moscow Theological Academy Enchants Meskel Celebrations in Addis Ababa

Addis-Ababa-Ethiopia: The Joint Choir of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra and the Moscow Theological Academy, visiting Ethiopia as part of the Days of Spiritual Culture of Russia taking place in this country, was present in Addis Ababa at events dedicated to the celebration of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross “Meskel” on 27 September 2023.

At the invitation of the Primate of the Ethiopian Church, Patriarch Abuna Matthias, the choir members took part in the culmination of the celebrations, which take place in the central city square of Meskel, performing church chants “To Your Cross” and “Today Hangs on the Tree.”

Among the honorary participants in the stands were the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Sahle-Work Zewde, the Administrator of the Affairs of the Ethiopian Church Archbishop Abuna Abram, the Secretary General of the Holy Synod Archbishop Abuna Petros, the Minister of Culture and Sports Ato Kejela, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Ethiopia.

The total number of spectators was several tens of thousands of people.
