Catholicos Karekin II Received EU Ambassador to Armenia

According to the official statement:

His Holiness extended his congratulations to the EU Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his mission. During the meeting, His Holiness expressed deep concern about the challenging situation in Artsakh and the severe consequences of Azerbaijan’s large-scale military operations. He emphasized the utmost importance of ensuring the physical security of Artsakh Armenians in these trying circumstances. His Holiness expressed hope that the international community, EU member states, and the EU Ambassador would exert every effort to prevent Azerbaijan’s genocidal policies.

Ambassador Vasilis Maragos, in reference to his mission in Armenia, underscored the importance of dialogue and close cooperation with the Armenian Church to foster development in various fields in Armenia and promote peace in the region. The EU Ambassador also informed the Patriarch of All Armenians about the programs being implemented by the European Union Civilian Observation Mission in Armenia.

During the discussion, they also addressed issues concerning the preservation of Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage in territories now under the control of Azerbaijan.
