Pope Tawadros II Received the Lebanese Interior Minister

Cairo -Egypt: H.H. Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria received the Lebanese Minister of Interior – Bassam Mawlawi in his Papal Residence on 20 December 2022.

The Minister mentioned during the meeting that it is his first time visiting Egypt, expressing his happiness over the invitation of the Egyptian Minister of Interior, Major General Mahmoud Tawfik to him to visit Egypt.
H.H. Pope welcomed him and he spoke about the history of the Coptic Orthodox Church and the history of Egypt from the Roman era until the entry of Islam to it, stressing that the Egyptian people live in love and harmony throughout the years.
H.H. Pope commended the good relationship between the Church with the Government, Al Azhar, and other Christian denominations.
At the end of the visit, H.H. presented a memorial gift to the Minister and to his accompanying delegation, wishing them a great time in Egypt.
