11 Orthodox Christians Slaughtered in Sherka, East Arsi, Oromia, Ethiopia

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia: The targeted killings of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Christians continues in Oromia, with 11 people, aged from 13 to 80, killed at a location traditionally used for Epiphany celebrations on Thursday, November 28, 2024. This brings the total number of victims in Sherka District over the past year to 140. Additionally, 20 churches have been closed, as many believers have fled the area due to ongoing violence and fears for their safety.
The whereabouts of six Christians remain unknown, according to an eyewitness who described the killings as “faith based” and a “cleansing from the face of the Earth”.
