The Ursi Romanian Orthodox Chapel Wins Europa Nostra Award for Cultural Heritage

Bucharest-Romania: The small wooden Orthodox chapel of Annunciation and the Archangel Michael located in Valcea county (Romania) was chosen as one of the winners of the European Heritage Awards (Europa Nostra Awards), 2021. The chapel was chosen as one of the winners under the conservation projects category.
Constructed between 1757 and 1784, this wooden church in Ursi village survived a fire in the 1830s. The chapel and was restored lately with the cooperation and support of several national and local partners.
