Rev Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei Elected Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest

On 29 September 2014, the working session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church was held at the Patriarchal Residence, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.

After consulting the Metropolitan Synod of the Metropolitanate of Muntenia and Dobrudgea, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel proposed, as Archbishop of Bucharest, Rt Rev Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei, Representative of the Romanian Patriarchate at the Holy Places and Superior of the Romanian Settlement of Jerusalem, Jericho, and Jordan, and Rt Rev Archimandrite Veniamin Goreanu, Eparchial Counsellor to the Church Administrative Department of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, for filling the vacancy of Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest.

The Holy Synod elected by secret vote Rev Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei for the vacancy of Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest with 34 aut 42 validly expressed. The new Assistant Bishop will bear the title of Prahoveanul.

The year 2015, which the Holy Synod proclaimed as Solemn Year of the parish and monastery mission today during its working session of October 2013, was also declared as Commemorative year of Saint John Chysostom and of the great spiritual shepherds of the eparchies of the Romanian Patriarchate.
